One perfect day in Helsinki
The essentials in a single walkable loop: two cathedrals, the harbour, a library like no other and a sea-side sauna to finish.
Day 1 — The classic loop
09:00 — Senate Square & Helsinki Cathedral. Climb the steps early before tour groups arrive.
10:00 — Market Square. Salmon soup or a karelian pie at the covered stalls; look across to Uspenski.
11:00 — Uspenski Cathedral. Five minutes' walk, red brick and gold domes.
12:30 — Lunch at Kappeli on the Esplanadi.
14:00 — Oodi Library. Go to the third floor "book heaven" for the view over the parliament.
15:30 — Amos Rex under the Lasipalatsi domes.
18:00 — Löyly. Book a two-hour sauna slot, swim in the Baltic, then dinner on the terrace.
